How to stop your Wi-Fi dropping every evening

It is often congestion, placement or one scheduled device — not your provider.

Check whether every device drops

If only one phone or laptop loses connection, forget the network on that device and reconnect. If everything drops together, continue at the router.

Move the router into the open

Keep it off the floor and away from televisions, microwaves and thick walls. A central shelf usually beats a cabinet near the incoming cable.

Test a quieter channel

Use your router app to select an automatic or less crowded channel. Save the old setting first so you can reverse the change.
